Hoses should not be stored with water in them. If they get hat enough the water will break open the hose.
Somebody tied a knot and turned the water on
your hose is in the sun,and it no good any more!
You still have the faucet turned on, therefore creating water pressure in the hose. The heat from the sun and the constant water pressure will cause your hose to expand and eventually burst. In my own experiences more expensive hoses are less likely to burst. All you have to do is shut your tap off and release any pressure in the hose.
You should always turn your water off then drain the hose. Water that remains in the line will expand as it heats the same way boiling water does thus creating a strain on the hose and over time will create a weak spot which will inevitably burst.
