Will soaker hoses saturate the ground under the foundation, or just the perimeter?
House in Texas with foundation problems. Due to the dry conditions, the inside of the house is settling and causing doors to stick, drywall to crack, etc.
I know people use soaker hoses to maintain the perimeter of a house, but will soaker hoses also add moisture to the middle of the home…or is there another method I should be considering?
I’m not thrilled about the idea of installing piers, as it would be very expensive. I do have some piers already installed on the perimeter of the house.

Mine just soak the perimeter.
That sort of thing occurs when soils get wet and then dry out, then get wet, then dry out…
Soils expand and/or shrink as they are wetted.
And yes, water can get under everything.
Here in Arizona, foundations are only required to be 12" deep, which isn’t deep enough to account for wet/dry soil expansions and is only that deep because we don’t appreciably have frost.
But anyway, see: http://www.foundationrepairnetwork.com/?p
what a great question, I was wondering my self since i just moved to dallas!
I think the foundation repair business is about to make a killing in the next few years!
